Michael P. (Mike) Gallagher II has been serving as the Lea County Manager since 2010. Lea County is currently one of the fastest growing counties in New Mexico and is the 2nd top, oil-producing county in the nation.
His areas of expertise include public administration and finance, economic and rural development, intergovernmental relations, and land use and transportation planning. Mike is very familiar with an effective economic development tool: local government Industrial Revenue Bonds (IRB). While County Manager, Lea County has approved more that $700 million of IRB’s to promote industry attraction and expansion in Lea County.
Mike has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Benedictine College, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from New Mexico State University and is recognized as a credentialed manager through the International City/County Management Association.
Mike and his wife Rachel have been married for 17 years and are the proud parents of 5 (Bella, Norah, Hannah, Michael and Amelia.
